Here’s our story of the day.
A customer came to us to get a rear main seal replaced, which is a labor intensive oil seal that requires us to remove the transmission to replace it. Another auto shop that she’d gone to told her it was leaking badly and needed to be repaired. The car was practically covered in oil.
Before we went into the engine and did the expensive repair, we checked ourselves to find the source of the leak and found what you’ll see in the video, an oil filter with a nice little hole in it that was causing the problem. We replaced the oil filter and there were no more leaks! By doing this we saved the customer about $500 on an unnecessary repair job.
